This workshop is intense – we spend time shooting, travelling to our next shoot, and prepping for tomorrow’s adventure. There is some downtime, but the emphasis is to see, feel, and capture this exciting and beautiful culture. When not shooting your time might be spent editing on your own, sipping a mojito at a neighborhood restaurant, or photographing live music at a local venue. Our itinerary is flexible to allow for the greatest variety of shooting experiences.
The workshop is intimate and limited to only 6 participants. This small size allows time to spend with our subjects; transportation, food and lodging logistics are simplified; and itinerary changes can be made easily and quickly with a smaller group. Time with the instructor and guide is readily available should you need it.
Besides capturing memorable images, we’ll meet with Cuban citizens and learn about daily life, the political and multi-tiered economic system and spend time in three UNSECO World Heritage sites – Old Havana, Viñales, and Trinidad. Our adventure is designed to put you in the right place, at the right time, with the right subject, to capture extraordinary images.
YES – It is legal for Americans to visit Cuba. Our tour is designed to meet the US government OFAC license requirements for Support for the Cuban People. SFCP is the easiest legal way for single travelers and small groups to visit Cuba. Support for the Cuban People regulations require that US travelers follow these rules:
1. Use privately owned businesses (shopping, meals, taxis)
2. Stay in privately owned accommodations.
3. Maintain a full schedule of “meaningful interactions that enhance contact with the Cuban people, support civil society and/or promote the people’s independence that result in meaningful interactions.”
4. Avoid transactions with the Cuban government entities (primarily hotels, restaurants and state-owned shops)
5. Document your activities and maintain records of your trip for 5 years.
The benefit to these rules is a legal, authentic, and fulfilling experience that has positive and direct impact on the Cuban hosts, farmers, and drivers who work with our group.
