For more than 20 years Tony has worked as a mentor, coach and guide for beginning and advanced photographers looking to improve their skill set and simply “get comfortable” with learning photography. In that time, he has worked with hundreds of enthusiasts and aspiring professional photographers in the Charlotte market to start or build their business and improve their skills.
In 2016 Tony developed and led an international photography workshop to Havana, Cuba and has since returned and held three photography workshops in Cuba since 2017. He continues to plan and create an annual photo workshop schedule, with workshops to be held in Arizona, Maine, North Carolina, Costa Rica and Cuba.
As a photographer Tony works with a handful of Charlotte’s Fortune 500 companies, leading universities, and charitable organizations. In 2006 Tony and his wife became involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and support the mission of the Foundation by donating his skills and time, photographing more than 15 local and national events each year.
Cannon’s love for photography is rooted in his childhood when his parents took him camping often and taught him to love, appreciate, and respect the great outdoors. This was the foundation for his passion for photography because while he loves to photograph just about everything, nature photography has always been his favorite. He sees photography, as well as all other art forms, as an instrument for good and tries to use his photography to promote conservation and good environmental stewardship.
Cannon has had the privilege to travel around the world, from Brazil to Norway to India, in the pursuit of bettering his abilities and seeing where his love for photography might take him. He is always happy to share the information and skills he has learned, as the importance of education was also deeply instilled in him at a young age. He is constantly looking to add new stamps to his passport and is always excited to take others along for the ride.
