Basic guidelines for acceptable passport phots from the U.S. State Department:

1. Use a clear image of your face. Do not use filters commonly used on social media.
2. Have someone else take your photo. No selfies.
3. Take off your eyeglasses for your photo.

  4. Use a white or off-white background without shadows, texture, or lines

  5. Ensure the subject's face is visible, no shadows or clothing obscure the face

  **You may not wear hats or head coverings, except for religious or medical purposes.
